POISONING

Virtually any substance can cause adverse effects if consumed in sufficient quantities, so we tend to classify as poisons those substances that, on ingestion, inhalation, absorption or injection through the skin in relatively small amounts, may cause structural damage of the body’s tissues or functional changes in organ systems. Although dogs can be poisoned in various ways, eating or drinking toxic materials is the most common. Dogs tend to be curious by nature, and will sniff and taste anything interesting, and their indiscriminate eating habits often lead to poisoning.
